What does cervical liposuction involve?
Neck liposuction is designed to reduce fat from the mandibular arch to the central area (double chin). It is important that there is not an excessive amount of very loose skin, since not all necks benefit from this procedure. We prefer to combine it with lipolaser to improve skin tightening at the level of the platysma (endolifting).
Who are the best candidates for cervical liposuction?
The ideal candidates for cervical liposuction are women or men who have fat that can be easily felt in the neck, but whose skin still retains some elasticity.
How is neck liposuction performed?
First, we mark the area to be treated. We administer local anesthesia and begin with the lipolaser to emulsify the fat. We then perform the liposuction, repeating the endolifting to finish. We apply a compression band for 1 week.
Aftercare
The complication rate is very low and the satisfaction rate is very high. There are usually few discomforts with neck liposuction. For a few days after surgery, you should keep your head elevated to help reduce swelling. Don’t be surprised by the swollen and bruised appearance in the first few days; remember that in a few weeks your look will be normal.
Frequently asked questions
Will there be visible scars after neck liposuction?
The scars are very small and blend in very well. They are normally under the chin and behind the ears.
How long will my recovery take?
Most patients who undergo neck liposuction feel fine, but they may be uncomfortable having to wear the compression band for a week. The discomfort is mainly related to the swelling during the first 1 to 2 weeks.
Do I need to take any special care after surgery?
Avoid strenuous activity for 2 to 3 weeks.
