What does axillary liposuction involve?
Axillary liposuction consists of superficial liposuction in the plane of the sweat glands using a special cannula with micro-teeth, with which we scrape the skin underneath.
How is axillary liposuction performed?
First, we perform the iodine test, which will guide us to where the hyperactive sweat glands are. We introduce diluted local anesthesia, and once the area is numb, we perform the liposuction through 2 small incisions.
Postoperative care
The complication rate is very low, and the satisfaction rate is very high; compared with open techniques. You will usually experience few discomforts after liposuction. Don’t be alarmed by the slightly swollen and bruised appearance in the first few days—remember that in a few weeks your appearance will be normal.
Results
Results are usually visible within a couple of weeks, with a significant reduction in axillary sweating.
Frequently asked questions
Will there be visible scars?
No visible scars remain after liposuction because the incisions are very small, 2 mm.
What type of anesthesia is used?
Liposuction is usually performed with local anesthesia at Clínica San Pío on an outpatient basis.
