Nasolabial Folds
Nasolabial folds are the lines that extend from the side of the nostrils to the folds of the mouth. These folds generally appear with age, when the cheeks begin to sag slightly, and they are strongly associated with each person’s genetics. With filler, we can reduce the depth of these folds and make them less visible.
As we lose volume and firmness in the cheek area, nasolabial folds become more marked with age; when the cheeks descend, the fold is emphasized even more. People with less body fat also experience this process, because fat provides volume.
There are two options to treat these lines, which are also complementary. One is to inject directly into the nasolabial fold, and the other is to first perform a filler treatment of the cheeks/cheekbone area, which provides tightening, naturally reverses the beauty triangle. In addition, this last step has the advantage of reducing the amount of filler needed for direct treatment of the fold.
A preliminary assessment is carried out for each patient to outline a treatment strategy*
Frequently Asked Questions
Does filler for nasolabial folds/cheekbones hurt?
Before the treatment, we apply a numbing cream to the area so that the injections are less uncomfortable. However, any discomfort is short-lived, and since there is additional anesthesia (lidocaine) in Teoxane products.
How long does the effect last?
The effect is temporary; the volume lasts approximately 12 to 18 months. During an initial consultation, we’ll discuss your goals and explain all aspects of the treatment clearly.
* We emphasize that dermal filler treatment does not guarantee the same result for everyone. The treatment should be individualized, and results may vary from person to person.
