Líneas de marioneta

Marionette lines

Marionette lines are the grooves that extend from the mouth toward the sides of the chin. These grooves are generally caused over the years, when the middle 1/3 of the face starts to sag, and in many cases it is associated with each person’s genetics.

With filler, we can reduce the depth of these grooves and make them less noticeable, restoring a more youthful expression.

The nasolabial folds become more marked with age as we lose volume and firmness in the cheek area, and as it descends, the fold becomes more pronounced. In people with a low percentage of body fat, this also happens due to the lack of the volume that fat would provide.

There are two options to treat these lines, which are also complementary:

  • One option is to inject directly into the nasolabial fold.
  • Another is to first perform a cheek / malar filler, which provides tightening and naturally restores the “triangle of beauty” to its proper shape.

In addition, this last step has the advantage of reducing the amount of filler needed for the direct treatment of the fold. A preliminary assessment is carried out for each patient to map out a treatment strategy*.

Filler treatment does not require any special preparation. It takes approximately 30 minutes and the results are visible immediately. After the treatment, you may notice mild pain or swelling in the area, particularly on your cheeks / nasolabial folds.

Recovery takes 1–2 days. But nothing prevents you from continuing with your everyday life.

In most cases, we use Teoxial fillers:

  • Ultradeep 1.2 ml to place it over the bone. Static filler, less elastic, and long-lasting.
  • RHA 4 1.2 ml to place it in the muscle or on top of it. Dynamic filler, more elastic, and long-lasting.

We will choose the type of filler that best suits each situation, as they have different characteristics.

Frequently Asked Questions

Before the treatment, we apply an anesthetic cream to the area so that the injections are less uncomfortable. But the discomfort is short-lived, and since there is additional anesthesia (lidocaine) in Teoxane products.

* We emphasize that filler treatment does not guarantee the same result for everyone. The treatment should be individualized, and results may vary from person to person.
